I trained as an Aircraft Design Engineer working in the Test Department of the Technical Office of Marshalls of Cambridge.
My work involved mainly aircraft related testing from strength and performance of components and structures to flight test instrumentation and flight testing of repaired or modified aircraft particularly the RAF C130 HerculesTransport plane.
Inevitably this involved drawing complex structures and assemblies which honed my drawing skills.
When I left Marshalls in 1975 I joined my brother-in-law Geoff in running Sureweld in Rushden, selling Welding Equipment throughout the UK and abroad.
Family activities incuded sailing our small dinghy and enjoying outdoor time in the beautiful Northamptonshire countyside.
Whenever the opportunity allowed I practiced Watercolour Painting - a skill that fortunately can create a picture in relatively short time and at little expense.
Now that I am retired from being MD at Sureweld I hope to spend more time developing my painting skills and style and have just completed a new 'House Commision' and the Higham Market Square picture.
